Inadequate school facilities and a strong need for advanced technology led the Pandora-Gilboa Local School District to discontinue the use of their existing school buildings in order to create a new PreK-12 school to house all of the community's students.

Through a series of community-based planning sessions, community members expressed their desire to separate grade groupings without using a traditional wing design. In response, the school's innovative design separates the grade groupings with middle school classrooms located on the second floor and high school and elementary classrooms divided on opposite sides of the first floor. The design provides all students with easy access to shared resources and assembly space including the gymnasium, auditeria, media center and administrative offices.

The community also desired that these main areas be open for community use during after school hours. Because of their central location, community members can conveniently access the main entrance corridor while classroom corridors are secured.
The 5,200 sf auditeria, which is the focus of the building, is equipped with a 1,200 sf stage and theatrical lighting. In addition to a musical and theatrical performance area, the space serves as a spacious lobby area for after school events.

Adjacent to the auditeria is a spacious high-tech media center that features a central computer lab and a state-of-the-art media retrieval system, which links classroom televisions throughout the building. This allows for long-distance learning, interactive learning, and other programs to prepare students for 21st century technology. The school district also prepared for increasing wireless technology. Every classroom will be equipped with wireless terminals for lap top computer use so that every classroom can transform into a computer lab.
