OAK HILL PUBLIC LIBRARY
Library New Construction
Client: Oak Hill Public Library

Total Area: 10,000 S.F.

Total Cost: $1,016,900

The new Oak Hill Public Library captures the small town history while providing the community with modern facilities and technology.
The 10,000 s.f. building doubles the space of the existing library's collection, supports state-of-the-art technology, and accommodates growing community use. The design includes a genealogy room, spacious reading room, and conference facility to be used by both staff and community groups. A children's area is incorporated to provide space for summer and afternoon programs. Staff offices, a workroom, and storage areas complete the space.

The library is located in the heart of town and along the old rail line. The design features a decorative mix of brick and block building materials, shingled roof, and wood windows, providing an appearance that envelops the style and detailing of the old train stations that were once common in Southeast Ohio.

Great care was taken in detailing interior building aesthetics as well. A ceramic tile entrance, high ceilings, and abundant natural lighting creates an open and inviting setting. A skylight pours natural light over the circulation desk and a window wall makes up the south end of the reading room.

Comfortable lounge furniture faces the window wall, presenting a beautiful view of the outdoor public area and onsite Veteran's Memorial Park. The outdoor space makes an excellent location for leisure, gatherings, and community events.
